In my opinion, the best carp rod holdall should be made from strong material, is waterproof and can house the right amount of rods for your trip.
For day session, I prefer to carry a quiver that can house a couple of made up rods so I can get fishing as quikcly as possible.
On the other hand, for anything over 24 hours, a rod holdall that can house my three main rods, my spod rod and a float rod, and can accomodate big pit reels would be the least I require.
Good tackle preparation like this ensures you have the right amount of kit, as circumstances can change by the hour, especially the weather!
Join me as I countdown a good selection of the best rod holdalls from all the top brands.

trakker nxg padded rod holdall
First up in my best rod holdall list is the Trakker NXG 5-Rod Holdall.
As the name suggests, it is capable of housing up to five made-up rods, even if they are fitted with big bit reels, which shows how spacious it is inside.
Perfect for longer sessions where you may need to call upon a variety of rods, such as a spod or marker rod.
If you’re like me, the first feature of any rod holdall to check for is padding to protect those expensive rods.
Luckily, the NXG Rod Holdall has plenty, and in all the key areas such as where the tips lies, or in between rods where they could come into contact and scratch up when transporting everything.
These dividers were a great feature, as you can be confident that your rods will sit nice and neatly.
Next, is the base, which Trakker have reinforced with Nyplax to further protect your rods. This is useful when placing your rod holdall down on wet ground.
I like to make sure all my tackle, including my rod holdall, has plenty of space for all the accessories available these days. I can tell you that this holdall has four very spacious external compartments for placing catapults, head torches and a long length pocket for landing net handles and throwing sticks.
An excellent choice if you’re seeking to replace an old holdall, or buying your first!
Take a look at the features and dimensions to make sure everything fits perfectly for your next fishing session.

Using the best quality materials, you can be sure this will last many years.

On top of these great features, the material itself is made from a water-resistant fabric, and includes a stormshield waterproof base to prevent liquid seeping through.

ESP Quiver & Sleeve
Available in three sizes, the fantastic ESP ‘Rod & Quiver’ holdall is a very practical system for rod transportation.
Sold as a pair, which includes a quiver and protective sleeve, both are made from a strong fabric that is both lightweight and protective of its contents.
The quiver itself features a dedicated pocket for the rod butts, which also covers the handle all the way up to the reel.
Additional Velcro webbing straps secure your rods at the base and towards the tip, further protecting everything as you transport your tackle to the lake.
Opening up the chunky zips reveals the centre compartment, designed to house shelters and brollies.
If you flip it over, there are two bankstick pockets, one which is quite short and could be perfect for bivvy pegs or stubby banksticks, whereas the longer would suit storm poles.
A great rod system for roving anglers who like to pack minimum gear for stalking, or those who prefer something for short summer sessions at dawn or dusk.

Nash Apache 5-Rod Holdall
My final rod holdall review is the Nash Apache.
Featuring a tough three-section spine stiffener, which is made from aluminium, this ensures the holdall keeps its shape.
Throughout the material, there is double thick foam which really protects every part of the rod well, even during a rough ride on your barrow!
It can store big pit reels within the stiffened and foam lined fleece shell designed to avoid any scratching that sometimes occur during transit.
Outside, there are two pockets for storing either a brolly, shelter, with the smaller length pocket ideal for banksticks or a rod pod.
Although not a incredibly well known as other Nash rod holdalls, the Nash Apache is practical and can hold an impressive five rods.
Additionally, there are webbing straps which allow the outer pockets to be compressed down, further protecting everything inside!
**This product is now discontinued I’m afraid, but there are still some available to buy from Amazon.
